Introduction

Vision

Li-Ming Toastmasters Club empowers members to realize their dreams in developing their communication and leadership skills, finding the courage for self-improvement, and ultimately, achieving their full potential.

 

Mission

Li-Ming Toastmasters Club¡¦s mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.  Li-Ming Toastmasters Club helps its members learn the art of speaking, listening, and thinking ¡V vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of humankind.

Li-Ming Toastmaster Club¡¦s core values are friendship, integrity, dedication to excellence, service to its members, and respect for the individual.  The Club provides enjoyable, entertaining, and social meetings where its members learn public speaking, impromptu speaking, and chairing business sessions.

 

How Li-Ming Toastmasters Club Works

¡P         Each new Toastmaster receives a New Member Kit.  The kit features a copy of the basic communication and leadership manual, general orientation materials, and information regarding skill improvement in areas such as speech evaluation and body language.

¡P         The Toastmaster program has a variety of assigned speeches to help you develop competency in areas such as organization, voice inflection, and persuasiveness.

¡P         The Toastmaster program provides workshop style success/leadership programs.

¡P         As your communication skills improve, you will gain recognition, and promotion may follow within the workplace.

¡P         As your presentation skills improve, you will win the respect and admiration of your colleagues and employees.

¡P         As your participation in Toastmasters broadens, you will escalate your management potential.

¡P         As a member of the Toastmaster Club, you have access to a wide range of educational materials.

 

How to Join Li-Ming Toastmasters Club

After visiting our friendly Li-Ming Toastmasters Club in a risk-free meeting, you have the opportunity to join the club.  There is a nominal one-time new member fee, a semi-annual Toastmasters International membership due, and a local club expense fee.  For more information about our club, or to join our club, please contact one of the following members by email:

Meeting Schedule

Li-Ming Toastmasters Club¡¦s regular meetings are on alternate Sundays from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. in the staff lounge of Julius West Middle School, located at 651 Great Falls RD, Rockville, MD 20850.  During the summer break from middle of June to end of August, our Club meets on alternate Saturdays or Sundays at a location to be determined.  During the summer of 2004, our Club held meetings on alternate Saturdays, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the CCACC office in Gaithersburg, MD.

 

Activities

Regular meeting activities:  Basic Manual Speeches, Advanced Manual Speeches, Table Topic Speeches, Speech Evaluations, General Evaluations, Grammarian, and Filing Next Meeting Agenda

Special activities:  Theme Meetings, Competition Speeches, Competition Evaluations, The Successful Club Series, The Leadership Excellence Series, Executive Meetings, Toastmasters Learning Institute (TLI) Training

Other activities:  family potluck meals, leisurely gatherings
